Originally from Florida, Dr. Kunwar Sohal is the newest addition to Buffalo Gastroenterology Associates. Dr. Sohal recently completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
Dr. Sohal earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland in 2007. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Florida in 2003 where he received his B.A.
It was at UNC where he had the opportunity to train in the areas of advanced therapeutics with some of the leading physicians in the field of GI. Dr. Sohal has been trained in ERCP, Barrett’s ablation/RFA, EMR (endoscopic mucosal resection) and complex colonic polypectomies. He trained with premier physicians in sub-specialties of GI, including inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis), Barrett's esophagus and pancreato-biliary diseases. Dr. Sohal was performing the leading-edge fecal transplant procedure used in the treatment of recurrent/refractory C.Diff while at UNC.
With skill and compassion, Dr. Sohal treats his patients using a comprehensive approach, taking care to listen to individual concerns and providing them with customized solutions. His friendly and approachable demeanor puts his patients at ease and his expertise and thoroughness ensure excellent results. Outside of medicine, Dr. Sohal is passionate about sports and music. He enjoys playing basketball, traveling and spending time with his wife (a Buffalo native) and their two sons and daughter.
