Benjamin Schaus, DO
Stomach Doctor in Buffalo, NY
Buffalo Gastroenterology Associates, LLP
Hello! Let me introduce myself. My name is Ben Schaus, and I joined Buffalo Gastroenterology Associates, LLP in July 2011.
Growing up in Western New York, I always knew I would return to this scenic area of lake-effect snow, comfortable summers, and my beloved “Sabres” and “Bills” to practice medicine. Graduating from St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute and Canisius College, prepared me with both a solid academic foundation and the personal discipline needed to tackle my medical education at theNew York College of Osteopathic Medicine, where I graduated in the top of my class. I continued to be a peak performer throughout my Internal Medicine residency at Cleveland Clinic. Following a year of practicing Internal Medicine as an attending physician at Cleveland Clinic, I completed a community-based Osteopathic Gastroenterology fellowship.
Through my three-year fellowship, I gained valuable experience throughout the Northeast and Midwest, completing rotations at such prestigious institutions as the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and Cleveland Clinic. There my GI training immersed me in the latest research findings and afforded me numerous opportunities to observe the most cutting-edge science in this discipline.
To add even greater depth to my fellowship, I also trained in community-hospital settings in Erie and Latrobe, Pennsylvania. Exposure to a wide variety of patients and procedures during these rotations, gave me a real sense of what the “art of medicine” means and how the doctor-patient relationship evolves in caring for patients. My time spent in these hands-on settings taught me how to balance the quality of care I provide, with the volume of patients I treat, with the procedures I meticulously perform. My mentors described me as a team player—one who is considered both knowledgeable and conscientious—and I value the superb examples they have set for me along the way.
As a member of the Buffalo Gastroenterology Associates team, I look forward to meeting you in the office and listening to you to help in any way I can. To providers, I would welcome your call to discuss a patient at any time. I guarantee, you and your patients, will find me to be a caring, compassionate professional, one who strives to earn your respect and trust. I look forward to working together in the near future.
